Office of Public Works

Established in 1831, the Office for Public Works (OPW) manages and maintains the State’s property portfolio, and provides a full design and project management service for public sector building projects, a conservation management and advisory service, and independent advice to the Government. It has the largest architectural practice in the country and is responsible for the restoration and preservation of many prestigious state buildings. The OPW has implemented Emex Accidents & Incidents, Emex Training and Emex Risks, achieving the central capture of key health and safety information. Emex Risks has been developed so that it can cater for specialised Design Risk Assessments, enabling the organisation share and build best practise among its architects for use on new-build and refurbishment projects.
